Slovakian-Style Braised Pork in Japanese Casserole
A unique fusion dish blending traditional Slovakian flavors with a Japanese-inspired casserole style. This hearty braised pork is cooked low and slow to tender perfection, served over a bed of Japanese rice.
Ingredients
- β2 lbs Pork shoulder
- β1 lb Slovakian sausage
- β1 large Onion
- β3 cloves Garlic
- β2 cups Japanese rice
- β2 tbsp Sesame oil
- β2 tbsp Soy sauce
- β2 tbsp Brown sugar
- β1/4 cup Green onions
- β1 tsp Sesame seeds

1. Preheat oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

2. Heat sesame oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Sear the pork shoulder until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes per side.

3. Remove the pork from the pot and set aside. Add the Slovakian sausage and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.

4. Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

5. Add the brown sugar, soy sauce, and 1 cup of water to the pot. Stir to combine.

6. Return the pork to the pot and cover with a lid. Transfer the pot to the preheated oven and braise for 2 1/2 hours, or until the pork is tender.

7. While the pork is braising, cook the Japanese rice according to package instructions.

8. Remove the pot from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice the pork against the grain into thin strips.

9. Serve the pork over a bed of Japanese rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
