Uruguayan Beef Empanadas
A classic Uruguayan dish consisting of flaky pastry pockets filled with tender beef. Enjoy as a snack or light meal.
Ingredients
- ●750g Ground Uruguayan Beef
- ●1 large Unctuous Onion
- ●1 package (homemade or store-bought) Flaky Pastry Dough
- ● Saltto taste
- ● Black Pepperto taste
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the diced onion to the skillet and cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent.

Season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper to taste.

Place a tablespoon or two of the beef mixture onto one half of each dough circle.

Fold the other half of the dough circle over the filling and press the edges together to seal the empanada.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with a little bit of water and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
