Argentinian Apple Empanadas
Delicious empanadas filled with sweet caramelized apples, inspired by the flavors of Argentina.
Ingredients
- β1 package (homemade or store-bought) Empanada doughThaw frozen dough according to package instructions
- β2 ApplesGranny Smith or other sweet-tart variety
- β1 tsp CinnamonGround cinnamon
- β1 tbsp SugarGranulated sugar
- β1/4 tsp NutmegGround nutmeg
- β2 tbsp ButterUnsalted butter, melted

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Roll out empanada dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

Add sliced apples, cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg. Cook, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender and caramelized.

Place a spoonful of apple mixture onto one half of the dough circle.

Brush edges with water and fold dough in half to form a half-moon shape.

Press edges with a fork to seal.

Place empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
