Autumn Apple Strudel
A traditional German dessert, this strudel is filled with tender apples and spices, topped with a crumbly streusel topping.
Ingredients
- β3 ApplesGranny Smith or other tart variety
- β1 package Strudel dough (homemade or store-bought)
- β2 tablespoons Butter
- β1/2 cup Sugar
- β1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- β1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
- β1 cup All-purpose flour
- β1 teaspoon Baking powder
- β1/4 teaspoon Salt
- β1 Egg
- β1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.

In a large bowl, combine the chopped apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour. Mix well.

Roll out the strudel dough on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Spread the apple mixture evenly over the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Roll the dough into a tight log, starting from one of the long edges.

Place the log on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam-side down.

Brush the top of the log with the melted butter.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the strudel is golden brown.
