Sweet and Spicy Brazilian Stuffed Yams
A delicious and flavorful dish that combines the sweetness of yams with the spiciness of Brazilian peppers. Perfect for a dinner or side dish.
Ingredients
- ●4-6 medium-sized yamsChoose firm, unblemished yams for best results
- ●2 medium-sized yellow sweet peppersAny color sweet pepper can be used, but yellow adds a nice pop of color
- ●2-3 Brazilian peppersAlso known as malagueta peppers, these add a spicy kick
- ● skilletA 10-inch cast-iron skillet works well for this recipe

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Poke the yams with a fork several times to allow steam to escape.

Bake the yams for 45-60 minutes, or until tender when pierced with a fork.

While the yams are baking, heat the skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the Brazilian peppers to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until fragrant.

Add the sliced yellow sweet peppers to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

When the yams are done, let them cool for a few minutes before slicing them in half lengthwise.

Scoop out some of the yam flesh to make room for the pepper filling.
