French Algerian Beef Tagine
A rich and flavorful French twist on the traditional North African dish, featuring tender beef and a blend of warm spices.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 pounds beefcut into small pieces
- β2 tablespoons olive oilfor browning
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon cuminground
- β1 teaspoon corianderground
- β1/2 teaspoon paprikasmoked
- β2 tablespoons pistachiochopped, for garnish
- β1 tablespoon tagine spice mixAlgerian-inspired blend
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high.

Brown beef in batches until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove browned beef from pot and set aside.

Soften onions in same pot over medium heat, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic, cumin, coriander, and paprika to pot and cook for 1 minute.

Add browned beef back to pot and stir in tagine spice mix.

Bring mixture to a simmer, then cover pot and transfer to oven.

Bake at 300Β°F for 2 1/2 hours, or until beef is tender.

Stir in pistachios and season with salt and pepper to taste.
