Carnitas Tacos
A delicious Mexican dish featuring slow-cooked pork in a flavorful tomato-based sauce, served in crispy tacos.
Ingredients
- β6 slices Streaky Baconcut into small pieces
- β2 pounds Pork Shouldercut into large chunks
- β1 cup Marinated Azucarado Onionsdrained and chopped
- β8-10 Tacos
- β2 tablespoons Lime Juice
- β1/4 cup Cilantrochopped
- β1 Tomatodiced
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 teaspoon Cumin
- β1 teaspoon Chili Powder

Preheat the oven to 300Β°F (150Β°C).

In a large Dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon from the pot and set aside.

Add the pork shoulder to the pot and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the pork from the pot and set aside with the bacon.

Add the marinated azucarado onions to the pot and cook until they start to caramelize.

Add the diced tomato, minced garlic, cumin, and chili powder to the pot. Cook for 1-2 minutes.

Add the browned pork shoulder back to the pot and stir to coat with the sauce.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Braise the pork for 2-1/2 to 3 hours, or until it is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Remove the pot from the oven and stir in the crispy bacon and chopped cilantro.

Warm the tacos by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.

Assemble the tacos by placing some of the carnitas onto a warmed taco and topping with your favorite toppings.
