German Date Tagine
A traditional German dessert inspired by the flavors of Morocco, featuring tender dates and a rich soft, Egyptian, and tagine-spiced mixture.
Ingredients
- β250g soft datespitted
- β120g egyptian soft cheesecubed
- β1 tsp tagine spice mixstore-bought or homemade
- β1 cup all-purpose flourfor dusting
- β2 tbsp unsalted buttermelted
- β1 cup brown sugarpacked
- β1 tsp almond extractoptional
- β1 cup heavy creamfor serving

Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

Dust a 25cm (10-inch) springform pan with flour.

Arrange the dates in the prepared pan.

In a bowl, mix together the cheese, tagine spice mix, and brown sugar.

Add the melted butter and almond extract (if using) to the cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.

Pour the cheese mixture over the dates in the pan.

Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.

Serve warm with heavy cream.
