Uruguayan Cheese Fritters
A crispy, cheesy fritter recipe inspired by Uruguayan cuisine. Perfect as a snack or dessert.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 cups All-purpose flour
- β1 cup Grated cheeseMonterey Jack or Cheddar work well
- β1 teaspoon Baking powder
- β1/4 teaspoon Salt
- β1 large Egg
- β1/4 cup Milk
- β2 tablespoons Butter, melted

Preheat the wok or a deep frying pan to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter.

Add the grated cheese to the wet ingredients and stir until melted.

Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until a smooth batter forms.

Using a spoon, drop the batter into the preheated wok or frying pan, making sure not to overcrowd.

Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate.
