Low Carb Japanese Gougere
A Japanese-inspired twist on the classic French gougere, using low-carb ingredients.
Ingredients
- ●1 sheet (homemade or store-bought) Low- carb pastry dough (made with almond flour and egg whites)
- ●1 cup, shredded Gougere cheese (such as gruyère or cheddar)
- ●1 cup (homemade or store-bought) French choux pastry
- ●1 tsp Sesame seeds
- ●2 tsp Miso paste
- ●1 tsp Soy sauce
- ●1 tsp Sesame oil
- ●to taste Salt
- ●to taste Black pepper
- ●1/4 cup Chopped scallions (green onions)
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the low-carb pastry dough and cut into desired shapes.

In a separate bowl, mix together the gougere cheese, choux pastry, sesame seeds, miso paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil.

Spoon the cheese mixture onto one half of the pastry shapes and fold the other half over to form a triangle or square shape.

Brush the tops with a little water and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Garnish with chopped scallions and serve warm.
