Knockout Hash and Yautia Fritters
A unique Mexican twist on traditional fritters, featuring yautia and knockout. Serve hot with your favorite salsa.
Ingredients
- β2 large yautiaPeel and dice into 1-inch pieces
- β1 cup hashDiced
- β1 medium onionDiced
- β2 cloves garlicMinced
- β1 egg
- β1 tablespoon cornstarch
- β1/4 cup portugueseChopped
- β1/4 cup knockoutChopped
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

In a large bowl, combine cooked onion and garlic, diced yautia, hash, egg, cornstarch, chopped portuguese, chopped knockout, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

Using a 1/4 cup measuring cup, scoop yautia mixture into the hot oil.

Press each scoop of yautia mixture into a flat shape, about 1/2-inch thick.

Cook yautia fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Using a slotted spoon, remove yautia fritters from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
