Welsh Rarebit Steak
A British-inspired dish featuring steak topped with a delicious Welsh rarebit sauce.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs SteakRare or medium-rare preferred
- β2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- β1 tsp Melted butter
- β1 tsp Mustard
- β1 tbsp All-purpose flour
- β1/2 cup Beer
- β1/4 cup Milk
- β1 cup, grated Cheese
- β4 slices Sliced bread

Preheat the grill to high heat.

Season the steak with salt and pepper on both sides.

Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

Transfer the steak to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the Worcestershire sauce, melted butter, mustard, and flour.

Whisk the mixture until it's smooth and heated through.

Add the beer and milk, whisking continuously until the sauce thickens.

Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until it's heated through.

Stir in the grated cheese until it's melted and smooth.

Toast the sliced bread until it's crispy.

Place the toasted bread slices on a serving plate or individual plates.

Slice the rested steak and place it on top of the toasted bread.

Pour the Welsh rarebit sauce over the top of the steak.
