Australian Meat Pie
A twist on the classic Italian meat pie, incorporating Australian flavors. Perfect for a hearty dinner.
Ingredients
- β500g Australian beef mince
- β2 tbsp zesty tomato paste
- β1 package flaky puff pastry
- β1 medium onionchopped
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
- β1 cup grated mozzarella

Preheat oven to 200Β°C.

Roll out puff pastry to a thickness of 3mm.

Place the rolled-out pastry in a pie dish.

In a pan over medium heat, cook the beef mince until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Season the beef mixture with salt and black pepper.

Transfer the beef mixture to the pie dish and top with grated mozzarella.

Cover the pie with the remaining puff pastry and crimp the edges to seal.

Cut a few slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown.
