Classic Cornish Pasty
A traditional British dish originating from Cornwall, filled with beef, potatoes, and vegetables, wrapped in a crumbly pastry.
Ingredients
- β1 pound, ground beef
- β2 large, peeled and diced potatoes
- β1 medium, diced onion
- β2 medium, peeled and diced carrots
- β1/2 cup cottage cheese
- β2 cups all-purpose flourfor the pastry

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large bowl, combine beef, potatoes, onion, and carrots. Mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine cottage cheese and a pinch of salt. Mix well.

Roll out the pastry dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Place the beef mixture in the center of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Place the cottage cheese mixture on top of the beef mixture.

Brush the edges of the pastry with a little water.

Fold the pastry over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.

Use a knife to create a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

Brush the top crust with a little milk or beaten egg for a glaze.

Bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
