Middle Eastern Harees with Peanut Butter Sauce
A traditional Middle Eastern dish made with slow-cooked wheat and meat, served with a creamy peanut butter sauce.

- β1 medium yellow onionchopped
- β4 slices crispy breadcrumbs
- β1/2 cup peanut butter
- β2 cups water
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper

Instructions

Soak the harees in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Drain and rinse the harees, then place it in a saucepan with 2 cups of water.

Add the chopped onion and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the harees is tender.

Meanwhile, blend the peanut butter with a little water until smooth.

Add the peanut butter sauce to the harees and stir well.
