German Beef Stew
A hearty and flavorful German-inspired stew made with tender beef, vegetables, and a rich broth.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef (stew meat)
- β2 tablespoons irish butter
- β1 medium onion
- β2 medium tomato
- β2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- β2 cups xtra beef broth
- β1 cup stew
- β2 bay leaves
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper
Instructions

Heat the irish butter in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the tomato to the pot and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Add the flour to the pot and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Gradually add the xtra beef broth, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

Return the beef to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 2 1/2 hours, or until the beef is tender.

Add the stew and bay leaves to the pot and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
