Japanese Lamb Biryani
A unique fusion of Japanese and Indian flavors in a delicious lamb biryani dish. The warmth of roasted spices pairs perfectly with the savory taste of lamb.
Ingredients
- β500g LambBoneless lamb shoulder or neck fillet
- β1 cup Sushi riceJapanese short-grain rice
- β2 tsp Warmly roasted cuminRoast cumin seeds in a pan until fragrant
- β1 tsp Warmly roasted corianderRoast coriander seeds in a pan until fragrant
- β2-inch piece GingerGrate the ginger for use in the biryani
- β2 tbsp Soy sauceUse low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier option
- β1 tbsp Rice vinegarUse Japanese rice vinegar for authentic flavor
- β2 cups Water
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black pepper

Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.

Add the lamb and cook until browned on all sides.

Remove the lamb from the pan and set aside.

In the same pan, add the cumin and coriander seeds and roast until fragrant.

Add the grated ginger and cook for 1 minute.

Add the soy sauce, rice vinegar, water, salt, and black pepper to the pan.

Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the cooked lamb back to the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the lamb is tender.
