Traditional German Pork Stew
A hearty, comforting stew originating from Germany, made with tender pork and rich flavors.
Ingredients
- β1 pound boneless pork shoulder or butt porkcut into 1-inch cubes
- β1 large onion polishchopped
- β4 cups beef broth stew
- β2 tablespoons tomato paste rich
- β2 cloves garlic tenderminced
- β1 cup water
- β2 large potatoes potatoespeeled and cubed
- β1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- β1 teaspoon salt
- β1/2 teaspoon black pepper

In a large Dutch oven, heat 2 tablespoons of oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Add the cubed pork and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the beef broth, tomato paste, water, potatoes, caraway seeds, salt, and black pepper.

Bring the stew to a boil, then cover and transfer to the preheated oven.

Bake at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, or until the pork is tender.
