Japanese Beef Pilaf
A flavorful Japanese-inspired pilaf dish featuring beef and a blend of savory spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound beef (thinly sliced)sirloin or ribeye
- β1 cup Japanese riceshort-grain rice
- β1/4 cup peppergreen or red pepper
- β2 tablespoons quick pilaf seasoningstore-bought or homemade
- β2 tablespoons vegetable oilfor stir-frying
- β1 small onionthinly sliced
- β2 tablespoons soy sauceoptional
- β1 tablespoon sugaroptional

Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add beef and cook for 3-4 minutes, or until browned, then set aside.

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add the onion and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add the pepper and cook for another minute, until the vegetables are tender.

Add the Japanese rice and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until lightly toasted.

In a small bowl, whisk together the pilaf seasoning, soy sauce, and sugar, then add to the rice mixture and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.

Add the cooked beef back into the skillet and stir-fry for another minute, until the beef is coated in the pilaf seasoning mixture.

Transfer the pilaf mixture to a serving dish and serve hot.
