Malaysian Deodeok Skewers
A flavorful and healthy Malaysian-inspired dish featuring deodeok root, marinated in a blend of spices and grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
- β1 large root, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes Deodeok Root
- β2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- β2 tablespoons Lime Juice
- β2 inches, grated Ginger
- β2 cloves, minced Garlic
- β2 tablespoons Coconut Milk
- β1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
- β1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
- β1/2 teaspoon Salt
- β1/4 teaspoon Chili Flakes

Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C).

In a large bowl, whisk together lime juice, ginger, garlic, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, and chili flakes.

Add the deodeok root cubes to the marinade and toss to coat.

Thread the marinated deodeok root onto skewers, leaving a small space between each piece.

Brush the skewers with vegetable oil and season with salt.

Place the skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until tender and lightly charred.

While the skewers are roasting, mix the coconut milk with a little water to thin it out.

Once the skewers are done, brush them with the coconut milk mixture and serve hot.
