French Knafeh Croissants
A French twist on the classic Middle Eastern dessert, featuring flaky croissants and a nutty knafeh filling.
Ingredients
- β1 cup (2 sticks) Butter
- β2 cups All-purpose flourFor croissant dough
- β1 cup shredded Knafeh
- β1/2 cup Granulated sugar
- β1 large EggsFor egg wash
- β1/4 tsp NutmegFor flavor
- β1/2 cup crumbled Middle eastern cheese

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

2. Add sugar, flour, and salt to the bowl. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.

3. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/4 inch. Cut into triangles.

5. Roll each triangle into a croissant shape.

6. Place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

7. In a separate bowl, mix together knafeh, sugar, and nutmeg.

8. Place a spoonful of the knafeh mixture at the wide end of each croissant.

9. Fold the croissant in half and press the edges to seal.

10. Brush the tops with egg wash and bake at 375Β°F (190Β°C) for 20-25 minutes.
