Briouat Turnip Fritters
A French-inspired twist on traditional Moroccan briouats, these fritters are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a delicious turnip and cheese filling.
Ingredients
- ●2 medium turnippeeled and grated
- ●1/2 cup nuttychopped almonds
- ●1/2 cup cheesygrated Gruyère
- ●1 tsp moroccanground cumin
- ●1 cup flourall-purpose gluten-free flour

In a large bowl, combine grated turnip, chopped almonds, grated Gruyère, ground cumin, and 1/2 cup all-purpose gluten-free flour.

Mix well to combine.

Add a pinch of salt to taste.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 egg and a splash of water.

Add the egg mixture to the turnip mixture and mix until a dough forms.

Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces.

Shape each piece into a ball and then flatten slightly into a disk shape.

Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

When the oil is hot, add a few of the turnip disks to the skillet (do not overcrowd).

Fry the briouat fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

Drain the fritters on paper towels and serve hot.
