Uruguayan Empanadas
A traditional Uruguayan dish filled with comte cheese and served as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- β1 cup, shredded Comte cheese
- β1 package, thawed Empanadashomemade or store-bought
- β1, for brushing Egg, beaten
- β1 tablespoon Water
- β1/4 teaspoon Salt
- β1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
Instructions

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a bowl, mix the shredded comte cheese and a pinch of salt.

Place an empanada disc on a flat surface and brush the edges with the beaten egg.

Place 1 tablespoon of the comte cheese mixture in the center of the empanada disc.

Fold the empanada in half and press the edges to seal.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Brush the tops of the empanadas with the beaten egg and sprinkle with water.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
