Tofu Basque Gratin
A creamy, French-inspired gratin made with pan-seared tofu and a delicate Basque sauce.
Ingredients
- ●1 block Extra-firm tofupressed and drained
- ●1 sprig Fresh thymefresh and chopped
- ●2 cloves Garlicminced
- ●2 tbsp Olive oilfor pan-frying
- ●1 tbsp All-purpose flourgluten-free option available
- ●1 cup Basque saucestore-bought or homemade
- ●1 cup Gratin cheesea mix of cheddar and parmesan
- ●to taste Salt

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

Press and drain the tofu, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.

Pan-fry the tofu in olive oil until golden brown on all sides.

In a separate pan, sauté the garlic and thyme in a little olive oil until fragrant.

Add the Basque sauce and stir to combine.

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, create a layer of Basque sauce.

Arrange the tofu cubes on top of the sauce.

Sprinkle the gratin cheese over the tofu.

Repeat the layers one more time, ending with a layer of cheese on top.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
