Traditional Paska Bread
A traditional Ukrainian sweet bread, perfect for special occasions. It's a rich, dense bread with a sweet and malty flavor.
Ingredients
- ●2 cups malty flour
- ●1 cup warm wateraround 100°F
- ●2 teaspoons dried yeast
- ●1/4 cup sugar
- ●2 large eggsat room temperature
- ●1/2 teaspoon salt
- ●1/4 cup unsalted buttermelted
- ●2 teaspoons ukrainian paska spice blend

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the yeast is activated.

2. Add the flour, remaining sugar, eggs, and salt to the bowl. Mix until a sticky dough forms.

3. Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

6. Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf. Place the loaf on the prepared baking sheet.

7. Brush the top of the loaf with the melted butter.

8. Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes, or until it's golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
