Japanese Style Potato Tempura
A crispy Japanese tempura dish made with thinly sliced potatoes, perfect as a side or snack.
Ingredients
- β1 large baby potatoespeeled and sliced into 1/8 inch thick rounds
- β2 large new potatoespeeled and sliced into 1/8 inch thick rounds
- β1 cup light oilfor frying
- β1 cup all-purpose flourfor tempura batter
- β1/2 cup waterfor tempura batter
- β1/2 cup ice-cold soda waterfor tempura batter

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, water, and soda water to make the tempura batter.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

Dip potato slices into the tempura batter, making sure they are fully coated.

Carefully place the battered potato slices into the hot oil. Do not overcrowd the pan.

Fry the potatoes for 3-4 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy.

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried potatoes from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
