Baked Pilchard Gratinee with Jewelled Rice
A hearty Italian-inspired dish featuring pilchards baked in a gratin with a side of jewelled rice. Perfect for a cozy dinner with family and friends.
Ingredients

- ●1 cup milkwhole or low-fat
- ●1/2 cup creamheavy or whipping
- ●1/2 cup parmesan cheesegrated
- ●1 cup jewelled rice
- ●1/2 cup polish sausagediced
- ●2 cloves garlicminced
- ●1 tsp herbal seasoning
- ●2 tbsp butter

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, sauté the polish sausage and garlic until browned.

In a separate saucepan, combine the milk, cream, and parmesan cheese. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

Add the pilchards, herbal seasoning, and cooked sausage mixture to the saucepan. Stir to combine.

Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with additional parmesan cheese.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.

While the pilchard gratin is baking, prepare the jewelled rice according to package instructions.
