Traditional German Bacon Schnitzel
A classic German dish made with tenderized pork, crispy bacon, and a sweet jammy glaze.
Ingredients
- β4 pork cutlets
- β6 slices bacon
- β1 cup all-purpose flour
- β1 egg
- β1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- β1/4 cup jammy glaze (homemade or store-bought)
- βto taste salt
- βto taste black pepper

1. Prepare the pork cutlets by pounding them thinly and seasoning with salt and black pepper.

2. In a shallow dish, mix together the flour, a pinch of salt, and a few grinds of black pepper.

3. In another shallow dish, beat the egg.

4. In a third shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.

5. Dip each pork cutlet in the flour mixture, coating both sides evenly.

6. Dip the floured pork cutlet in the egg, making sure it's fully coated.

7. Finally, coat the pork cutlet in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing the crumbs gently onto the meat to ensure they stick.

8. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the bacon slices.

9. Cook the bacon until crispy, flipping halfway through.

10. Remove the bacon from the skillet and set aside.

11. In the same skillet, add a small amount of oil and cook the breaded pork cutlets for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
