Ukrainian Hearty Beef Pilaf
A hearty, comforting pilaf dish from Ukraine, made with tender beef and flavorful spices.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Ground Beef80/20 or higher lean to fat ratio
- β1 cup Pilaf Ricelong-grain rice, rinsed
- β4 cups Vegetable Brothlow-sodium
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β1 teaspoon Caraway Seedsoptional, for traditional flavor
- β1 teaspoon Saltor to taste
- β0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
- β2 tablespoons Butter

Heat butter in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned, about 5 minutes.

Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.

Add caraway seeds (if using), salt, and black pepper. Cook for 1 minute.

Add pilaf rice and stir to coat with butter and oil.

Add vegetable broth and bring to a boil.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until rice is tender and liquid has been absorbed.
