Spiced Steak Idli
A fusion of Indian flavors with a juicy steak, served with a traditional idli. Perfect for a hearty dinner.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound steakpreferably ribeye or sirloin
- ●1 cup idli ricepreferably short-grain rice
- ●2 tablespoons fenugreek seedsground or whole
- ●1/4 cup curry leavesfresh or dried
- ●1 teaspoon chili powderadjust to taste
- ●1 teaspoon garam masalaadjust to taste
- ●to taste saltadjust to taste
- ●1 medium onionschopped
- ●2 cloves garlicminced
- ●1-inch piece gingergrated

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Season the steak with salt and your desired amount of chili powder and garam masala.

Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.

Transfer the steak to a baking sheet and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until it reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.

While the steak is cooking, prepare the idli by mixing the idli rice with fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, and a pinch of salt. Knead the mixture for 5-7 minutes until it forms a sticky dough.

Shape the dough into small idlis and steam them for 10-12 minutes, or until they are cooked through.

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until they are translucent.

Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for an additional minute.

Serve the steak with the steamed idlis and the onion-garlic-ginger mixture.
