Ethiopian Sirloin Stew
A flavorful and spicy Ethiopian-inspired stew made with sirloin and a variety of spices. This hearty dish is perfect for a chilly evening.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Sirloin
- β2 tablespoons berbere spice mix Fermented
- β2 tablespoons niter kibbeh or vegetable oil Ethiopian
- β2 cups beef broth stew
- β1 medium onion
- β3 cloves garlic
- β2 medium carrots
- β2 medium potatoes
- β2 cups chopped fresh cilantro (optional) fluffyfor garnish
Instructions

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

Add sirloin and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add berbere spice mix and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add carrots and potatoes and cook for 5 minutes.

Add beef broth and bring to a boil.

Return sirloin to pot and reduce heat to low.

Simmer, covered, until sirloin is cooked through and vegetables are tender, about 1 hour.
