Fermented Pork Dumplings with Earthy Salsa
A fusion of mexican and portuguese flavors, these fermented pork dumplings are served with a earthy salsa made from portuguese ingredients.
Ingredients
- β1 lb Fermented Porkavailable in portuguese markets
- β1 package Dumpling Wrappersavailable in most supermarkets
- β2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- β1 cup Earthy Salsasee instructions for preparation
- β1 tbsp Portuguese Olive Oil
- β1 tsp Cumin
- β1 tsp Chili Powder
- β1 tsp Salt
- β1 tsp Black Pepper
- β1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro

In a large mixing bowl, combine the fermented pork, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

Add the dumpling wrappers to the bowl and mix until the wrappers are evenly coated with the pork mixture.

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Heat 1 tbsp of portuguese olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the dumplings and cook until golden brown on the bottom, about 3-4 minutes.

Flip the dumplings and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until golden brown on the other side.

While the dumplings are cooking, prepare the earthy salsa by combining the apple cider vinegar, chopped fresh cilantro, and 1/4 cup of water in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth.

Once the dumplings are cooked, serve them hot with the earthy salsa spooned over the top.

Garnish with additional chopped fresh cilantro, if desired.
