Delicate American Stew
A comforting and flavorful stew made with tender chunks of beef and a hint of sweetness from prunes, all in a rich and savory broth.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef stew meatcut into 1-inch cubes
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β2 cloves Garlicminced
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose flourfor dusting
- β1 cup Delicate red wineor beef broth
- β1/4 cup Prune juiceoptional
- β1/4 cup Prunespitted and chopped
- β2 cups Low-sodium beef brothhomemade or store-bought
Instructions

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Add the beef and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.

Add the onion and garlic to the pot and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add the flour to the pot and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Gradually add the red wine, prune juice (if using), and broth, whisking to combine.

Return the beef to the pot and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, until the beef is tender, about 2-3 hours.

Stir in the prunes and cook for an additional 30 minutes.
