Crispy Hazelnut Crumble Bao
A Chinese-inspired dessert featuring a crispy hazelnut crust and crumble topping on soft bao.
Ingredients
- β1 cup Hazelnuts
- β1 package (about 20 wrappers) Crispy Wonton Wrappers
- β2 tablespoons All-purpose flour
- β1/4 cup Granulated sugar
- β1/2 cup Crumble topping (store-bought or homemade)
- β4-6 pieces Soft bao dough (homemade or store-bought)
- β2 tablespoons Unsalted butter

Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Cut the crispy wonton wrappers into small pieces and toast them in the oven for 5 minutes.

In a bowl, mix together the toasted wonton pieces, flour, and granulated sugar.

Cut the hazelnuts into small pieces and mix them with the crumble topping.

Cut the soft bao dough into small pieces and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Sprinkle the toasted wonton mixture and hazelnut crumble mixture on top of the bao pieces.

Drizzle the unsalted butter over the toppings.
