Japanese Kabanos-Style Okonomiyaki
A fusion of Japanese okonomiyaki and Hungarian kabanos sausage, this dish combines the savory flavors of the two cuisines.
Ingredients
- β4 slices Kabanos sausagethinly sliced
- β2 tbsp Okonomiyaki sauceadjust to taste
- β1 tbsp Japanese mayonnaiseadjust to taste
- β4 Sliced green onionsthinly sliced
- β1 cup Sliced shiitake mushroomsthinly sliced
- β1 cup Zesty cabbagethinly sliced
- β2 cloves Pungent garlicminced
- β1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbsoptional

Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced kabanos sausage and cook until browned and crispy, about 5 minutes.

Add the sliced shiitake mushrooms and cook until tender, about 3 minutes.

Add the thinly sliced cabbage, zesty cabbage, and pungent garlic. Cook until the cabbage is slightly wilted, about 2 minutes.

In a small bowl, whisk together the okonomiyaki sauce and Japanese mayonnaise. Brush the sauce mixture over the top of the sausage and vegetables.

Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake at 400Β°F (200Β°C) for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized and bubbly.

Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Panko breadcrumbs, if using.
