Kenyan Chickpea Fritters with Zesty Dipping Sauce
Crispy Kenyan-style fritters filled with chickpeas, served with a tangy zesty dipping sauce. Perfect as a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
- β1 1/2 cups, drained and mashed chickpeas
- β1 cup all-purpose flour
- β1/4 cup zesty sauce
- β1/2 cup, finely chopped onion
- β2 cloves, minced garlic
- β1 teaspoon cumin
- β1 teaspoon coriander
- β1/2 teaspoon salt
- β1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- β1/4 cup, for frying vegetable oil

Preheat oil in a deep frying pan to 350Β°F (175Β°C).

In a large bowl, mix together chickpeas, flour, zesty sauce, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, salt, and black pepper.

Using your hands, shape the mixture into small patties.

When the oil is hot, add a few fritters to the pan (do not overcrowd).

Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.

Remove the fritters from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
