Japanese Ramen with Braised Pork
A Chinese-inspired recipe featuring braised pork and a flavorful ramen broth.
Ingredients
- β1 lb pork shouldercut into 2-inch cubes
- β1 medium yellow onionsliced
- β1 package ramen noodles
- β2 tbsp shoyuor soy sauce
- β2-inch piece gingersliced
- β3 cloves garlicminced
- β1/4 cup green onionschopped
- β1 tsp sesame oil

Heat 2 tbsp of sesame oil in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Sear the pork cubes until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes. Remove from pot and set aside.

Add 1 tbsp of shoyu to the pot and stir to combine. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot.

Add the sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 8 minutes.

Add the sliced ginger, minced garlic, and cooked pork back to the pot. Stir to combine.

Add 4 cups of water to the pot and bring to a boil. Cover and transfer to the oven.

Braise the pork in the oven at 300Β°F (150Β°C) for 2 1/2 hours, or until tender.

While the pork braises, cook the ramen noodles according to package instructions.

To assemble the ramen, place a portion of noodles in a bowl and top with a slice of braised pork, some green onions, and a splash of shoyu.
