Uruguayan Molasses Cake
A rich and moist cake infused with the deep flavors of molasses, a staple in Uruguayan cuisine. Perfect for a sweet treat.

- ●2 cups all-purpose flour
- ●1 cup granulated sugar
- ●1/2 cup molasses
- ●1 1/2 cups cake flour

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23cm) round cake pan.

In a small bowl, combine yeast, warm water, and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes, until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flours, sugar, and molasses.

Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a sticky dough forms.

Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, until doubled in size.

Punch down the dough and shape it into a round cake.
