Carnitas Tacos
Slow-cooked pork tacos with a crispy texture, served with fresh cilantro and spicy salsa.
Ingredients
- β1.5 lbs pork shoulder
- β2 tbsp lard or vegetable oil
- β1 oniondiced
- β2 cloves garlicminced
- β1 packet tacos seasoning
- β8-10 tortillas
- β1/4 cup cilantrochopped
- β1 lime
- βto taste salt and pepper

Heat 2 tbsp of lard or vegetable oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Add pork shoulder and cook until browned on all sides, about 5 minutes.

Add tacos seasoning and 1 cup of water to the pot, cover and bring to a boil.

Transfer the pot to the oven and braise the pork for 2.5 hours, or until tender and easily shredded.

Shred the pork with two forks and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Warm tortillas by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and microwaving for 20-30 seconds.

Assemble tacos by spooning shredded pork onto a tortilla, topping with chopped cilantro, a squeeze of lime juice, and serving with your desired toppings.
