Canadian Beef Pie
A hearty beef pie with a rich and flaky crust, perfect for a cold winter night. Serves 4-6 people.
Ingredients
- β500g Ground Beef80/20 lean to fat ratio
- β2 cups All-purpose Flourfor the crust
- β1 cup Cold Butterdiced
- β1 cup Milkfor the crust
- β1 medium Onionchopped
- β3 cloves Garlicminced
- β1 cup Frozen Mixed Vegetablessuch as peas and carrots
- β1 cup Beef Brothhomemade or store-bought
- β1 tsp Saltto taste
- β1 tsp Black Pepperto taste
- β1 Eggbeaten (for egg wash)

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

In a large pan, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan and cook until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables and beef broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let cook for 5 minutes.

Season the filling with salt and black pepper to taste.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pie crust to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Transfer the pie crust to a 9-inch pie dish and fill with the beef filling.

Roll out the remaining pie crust to a thickness of about 1/8 inch and use it to cover the pie.

Use a knife or pastry brush to create a decorative edge around the pie crust.

Brush the beaten egg over the pie crust to give it a golden brown finish.

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is hot and bubbly.
