Creamy Mac and Cheese
A comforting and creamy macaroni pasta dish that is perfect for a cozy evening.
Ingredients
- β250g macaroni
- β50g pastaUsed to add extra creaminess
- β150g xtra sharp cheddar cheese
- β20g flaky pastryFor the crispy topping
- β2 french onion
- β20g unsalted butter
- β200ml milk
- β1 tsp salt
- β1 tsp black pepper

Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

Cook the macaroni in a large pot of boiling salted water until it's al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they're softened and lightly browned.

Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.

Slowly pour in the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until it thickens.

Remove the sauce from the heat and stir in the cheddar cheese until it's fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until it's well coated.

Transfer the macaroni mixture to a baking dish and top with the flaky pastry.
