Slovakian Sausage and Dumplings
A hearty German-inspired dish featuring Slovakian sausage, served with fluffy dumplings.
Ingredients
- β400g Slovakian sausageabout 2 pounds
- β500g Dumpling mixabout 2.2 pounds
- β2 cups All-purpose flourfor dusting
- β2 Egg, beatenfor egg wash
- β2 tablespoons Butter, meltedfor brushing dumplings
- β1 medium Onion, choppedabout 1 cup
- β3 cloves Garlic, mincedabout 1 tablespoon
- β Salt and pepperto taste

1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

2. Cook Slovakian sausage in a pan over medium-high heat until browned, then set aside.

3. In a large bowl, combine dumpling mix, flour, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.

5. Divide dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten slightly.

6. In a large Dutch oven or pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add Slovakian sausage and cook for 5 minutes.

7. Add the dumplings to the pot and cover with a lid. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until dumplings are cooked through.

8. While the dumplings cook, melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

9. Add minced garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute.

10. Serve the cooked dumplings with the Slovakian sausage and pan-fried onion and garlic mixture.
