French-Style Vietnamese Banh Mi
A fusion of French and Vietnamese flavors, this sandwich features a crispy baguette filled with a flavorful combination of meats and pickled vegetables.
Ingredients
- β1 baguettepreferably a crusty French baguette
- β1/2 pound Vietnamese-style pork sausagesuch as cha siu or banh mi sausage
- β1/2 pound grilled pork chopsmarinated in a mixture of fish sauce, lime juice, and brown sugar
- β1/2 cup pickled carrots and daikonmade with a mixture of vinegar, sugar, and salt
- β1/2 cup cucumber slicesthinly sliced
- β1/4 cup cilantro leaveschopped
- β2 tablespoons mayonnaisesuch as Duke's or homemade
- β1 teaspoon srirachaoptional

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.

Grill the pork chops until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.

Slice the grilled pork chops into thin strips.

Grill the Vietnamese-style pork sausage until browned and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.

Slice the grilled sausage into thin rounds.

Split the baguette in half lengthwise and toast until crispy.

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the baguette.

Add sliced grilled pork, grilled sausage, pickled carrots and daikon, cucumber slices, and cilantro leaves to the bottom half of the baguette.

Drizzle sriracha on top of the filling, if using.

Top with the top half of the baguette.

Note: You can also assemble the sandwich just before serving and let everyone build their own.
