Sloe Berry Tagine
A traditional Kenyan-inspired dessert with a twist of warm spices and a sweet berry sauce.
Ingredients
- β250g sloe berriesfresh or frozen
- β1 tsp tagine spice blendor substitute with cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg
- β150g brown sugaror substitute with honey
- β250ml water
- β1 tsp almond extract
- β50g unsalted butteroptional
- β25g all-purpose flourgluten-free flour substitute recommended
- β1 eggbeaten
- β1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 180Β°C (350Β°F).

Mix sloe berries, tagine spice blend, brown sugar, and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, egg, and vanilla extract. Add the mixture to the saucepan and stir to combine.

Transfer the mixture to a greased tagine or baking dish.

Dot the top with unsalted butter, if using.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.

Serve warm, garnished with additional sloe berries and tagine spice blend, if desired.
