Alsation Cabbage Galette
A traditional German-inspired galette filled with sautéed cabbage and onions, perfect as a side dish or light lunch.
Ingredients
- ●1 sheet Alsation galette pastryavailable in most supermarkets
- ●1 head Cabbagegreen or red, whichever is in season
- ●1 medium French onionfor caramelizing
- ●2 cloves Resinous garlicminced
- ●1 tsp Chinese five-spice powderfor added depth
- ●2 tbsp Olive oilfor brushing pastry

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out galette pastry to a thickness of 1/8 inch.

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.

Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute.

Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, stirring occasionally.

Add shredded cabbage and cook until tender, stirring occasionally.

Season with Chinese five-spice powder and stir to combine.

Brush the edges of the galette pastry with olive oil.

Spoon the cabbage mixture onto one half of the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border.

Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press edges to seal.

Brush the top of the galette with olive oil and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
