Braised Perilla Stew
A flavorful and comforting stew made with vibrant perilla leaves and a variety of other ingredients, perfect for a cold winter's night.
Ingredients
- ●2 cups Perilla leavesvibrant and slightly bitter
- ●2 tablespoons Soy saucerich and savory
- ●1 tablespoon Sesame oilnutty and fragrant
- ●1 inch piece Gingerspicy and warming
- ●3 cloves Garlicpungent and aromatic
- ●1 cup Mushroomsearthy and meaty
- ●1/2 cup Seednutty and crunchy
- ●2 cups Stewrich and hearty
- ●2 cups Waterneutral and hydrating
Instructions

Heat the sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the ginger and garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Add the mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown.

Add the perilla leaves, soy sauce, and stew, and stir to combine.

Add the water and bring the mixture to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes.

Stir in the seed and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

Season with salt and pepper to taste.
