Traditional Venezuelan Empanadas
A classic Venezuelan dish, these empanadas are filled with a delicious mixture of ground pork and spices, wrapped in a flaky crust.
Ingredients
- ●1 pound Ground PorkMake sure to cook the pork to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C)
- ●1 packet Venezuelan YeastAvailable at most Latin American grocery stores
- ●2 tablespoons Velvety Olive OilUse for brushing the empanada crust
- ●1 package Empanada DoughAvailable at most Latin American grocery stores
- ●1/4 teaspoon SaltTo taste
- ●1/4 teaspoon Black PepperTo taste

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, cook the ground pork over medium heat until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

Add the Venezuelan yeast, salt, and black pepper to the skillet and stir to combine.

Roll out the empanada dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Place a tablespoon of the pork mixture in the center of each dough square.

Brush the edges of the dough with velvety olive oil.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges together to seal.

Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
