Spicy Tagine Stew
A hearty, slow-cooked stew made with tender lamb and a blend of aromatic spices. This recipe is a twist on traditional tagine, adapted to be vegan-friendly.
Ingredients
- β2 tsp algerian tagine spice blend
- β1 cup lamb substitute (such as seitan or portobello mushrooms)
- β1 medium onion
- β2 cloves garlic
- β2 medium carrot
- β2 medium potato
- β2 tbsp tomato paste
- β1 can chickpeas
- β2 tbsp olive oil
- β2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Instructions

Heat oil in a large Dutch oven over medium heat.

Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Add lamb substitute, carrot, and potato. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add tagine spice blend and cook for 1 minute.

Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute.

Add chickpeas and vegetable broth. Bring to a simmer.

Reduce heat to low and cook, covered, for 20-25 minutes or until the stew has thickened.
