Hearty Beef Casserole
A comforting beef casserole made with tender beef, velvety potatoes, and a rich sauce.
Ingredients
- β1 pound Beef (ground)80% lean ground beef
- β2 medium Velvety potatoes (diced)About 2 cups diced
- β1 Dutch casserole dish9x13 inch baking dish
- β1 cup Casserole-style breadcrumbsPanko or regular breadcrumbs
- β2 cups Meat-based brothHomemade or store-bought beef broth
- β2 tablespoons ButterUnsalted butter
- β1 small Red onionAbout 1/2 cup chopped
- β1/2 teaspoon Caraway seedsOptional
- β1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauceOptional
- β Salt and pepperTo taste

Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).

Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the caraway seeds and Worcestershire sauce (if using) and stir to combine.

Transfer the beef mixture to the Dutch casserole dish and set aside.

In a separate bowl, combine the diced potatoes, meat-based broth, and butter. Mix until the potatoes are well coated.

Pour the potato mixture over the beef mixture in the casserole dish.

Sprinkle the casserole-style breadcrumbs on top of the potatoes.

Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.

Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden brown.
