Smoky Turkish Lentil Stew
A hearty and comforting Turkish-inspired stew made with red lentils, smoky spices, and mercimek.
Ingredients
- ●1 cup Red LentilsRinsed and drained
- ●2 tsp Smoky PaprikaSmoked to perfection
- ●1 tsp Turkish Red Pepper FlakesFor added heat
- ●2 tbsp Olive OilFor sautéing
- ●1 medium OnionChopped
- ●3 cloves GarlicMinced
- ●2 cups MercimekChopped and drained
- ●4 cups Chicken BrothLow-sodium
- ●1 tsp SaltTo taste
- ●1/2 tsp Black PepperTo taste
Instructions

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.

Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.

Add the smoky paprika, Turkish red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Add the rinsed red lentils and chopped mercimek. Stir to combine.

Add the chicken broth and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes or until the lentils are tender.
